Refilling social batteries internationally ☺️

Hey Reader,

Sunday really refilled my energy battery + left me smiling.

I host a monthly Community Call + it always brings me such joy to see people from around the world connect. We had people calling in from South Africa, Spain, Italy, America, Canada, Brazil + Germany representing nationalities of French, Canadian, South African, American, Austrian + English. WOW what a cool global bunch to engage with.

As the Community Calls grow, there will be a limit of how many travel friends can join to ensure the conversation is smooth. Don't miss a spot for March's Community Call (+ invite a friend!). Read the highlights of February's call!

Nothing else too crazy happening here, besides feeling like we're in summer after warming up 30 degrees from -25 ℃ to +5 ℃ 😆

Next week I'm jumping on a plane for the first time in 3 months after I spend a the weekends in the mountains celebrating my bestie (a highlight of being home right now)!

Ciao for now, Anna

MESSAGE BOARD

If you're looking for Accommodation Deals on Airbnb that have good wifi, proper living set-ups + at a fraction of the regular cost you'll want to check out The Nomad Accommodation Guy aka Chris.

This isn't sponsored (this section can be), I've just loved reading Chris' newsletter RemoteBase monthly to find great long-term accommodation ideas.

It inspires location, cost, type of trip + gives me a jump start on looking for a decent place to stay!

Like this epic view for a month in Cape Town, South Africa!

Not feeling guilty about work. If you have a travel day ahead, even a short one, set an Out of Office for work + home so folks know you're in the sky, on the bus or just may be a day delayed responding.

One of my easy "hostel" meals - a package of instant noodles, with water first boiling with any veggies + tofu add the seasoning, then the noodles + BAM an all food groups meal.

A Court of Thorns and Roses was good, not put-down worthy, maybe #2 is better. In the meantime I'm going to read Trevor Noah's story.

No car, no problem. This was the perfect (+ sweaty) day hike to get a bird’s eye view of this gorgeous Balkan city, whilst getting some time away from the laptop moving. You can drive up the mountain, however the coffee tastes a bit better when you’ve worked for it 😛

Reader, Spring is here in Canada. I think. I hope. We're fluctuating between 12℃, full sun, what feels like patio season for us coming out of winter with the looming weather report of more snow on the way 😔 April is a teaser month, making me re-think about spending winters in Canada + how many of my long-term travel + digital nomad friends are flocking to Southeast Asia (places like Da Nang, Chiang Mai, Lombok) or South America. I really should have warmed up at Carnival in Brazil this year...

I've talked about loneliness, finding friends while travelling solo + how to find social circles while travelling in past newsletters Reader. It takes effort, to meet people, to maintain relationships, to put the effort to see one another again when you're 7,000km away. And this applies to family, friendships, romantic connections + business acquaintances. You have to be the driver if you want relationships to flourish + develop. 1.5 years later this effort has paid off. Let me tell you the...

Hi Reader, Thanks to those of you who voted in my poll last about interest in a pop-up coliving, it was great to receive feedback in the brainstorming phase. I need your help again. I've been working behind the scenes to enhance the "Your Travel Friend" brand + online presence + I need your vote on which colour palette of the YTF logo you like the best. VOTE FOR YOUR FAVOURITE LOGO COLOUR It's helpful for me to understand what colours bring you joy, evoke emotions, or you simply just like...
